The hotel Riga located in the most picturesque place of a city, opposite to a building of the National opera and Freedom statue, has been constructed in 1956. However in the nineteenth century on this place there was a hotel destroyed during war.
The new hotel has been named in honour of the Latvian capital. And today it carries out a role of gate to Old Riga (Vecriga) where the most known historical and architectural monuments are located, foreign embassies, banks, large shops, entertainments and vacation spots.
